At the patronal feast day in the only opened church in Harbin, of the Holy Protection of the Theotokos, Fr Michael Wang, the priest from Shanghai of Chinese Autonomous Orthodox Church, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, during which several dozen Chinese and Russian believers prayed. For Orthodox believers in Harbin the clergy visit is a rare opportunity to take part in religious services.

A unique book entitled ‘Orthodoxy in China’ has come out. It describes the birth and development of the Orthodox culture in the Celestial Empire. During his official visit to China on 27 September 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev presented the Chairman Hu Jintao with a copy of this book.

In Russia on Thursday marked the first time a new memorable date. Exactly 65 years ago ended the Second World War - the bloodiest in human history. It covered the territory of 40 countries on three continents. The brunt of the war fell on the Soviet Union. Around three million Soviet soldiers, who died during the Second World, found their peace abroad. The graves of soldiers and officers are located in Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria, North Korea and China. In the Middle Kingdom, in general is the biggest cemetery of Russian soldiers. It is located in Lushun, formerly Port Arthur - a city for which there was fighting 65 and 105 years ago. The recently dilapidated cemetery was fully restored.
Archpriest Alexey Kiselevich, a cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church, who has taken pastoral care for an Orthodox community in Shanghai, China, since 2005, conducted an office of blessing of the Russian pavilion at Shanghai EKSPO-2010 on 14 June 2010.
The 4th Conference of Russian Compatriots in China took place on May 4-5, 2010, in Harbin under the theme "Russian Historical Heritage in China: Problems of Study, Preservation and Popularization in the Light of the 65th Anniversary of the Great Victory". It was attended by representatives from all the regions in China as well as Russian Orthodox clergy including Archpriest Dionisy Pozdnyaev, rector of Sts Peter and Paul's Church in Hong Kong, and Rev. Sergiy Voronin, rector of the Orthodox Community of the Dormition at the Russian embassy.
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent the following message of condolences over the earthquake in the Quinghai Province to the President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao.

Over one hundred Russian compatriots came to the church of the Protecting Veil in Harbin, China, on Easter Day, April 4, 2010, for the Easter matins and liturgy. Most of them made confession and took communion.
